Created for the French market, this fabulous 4 piece bridge pencil set depicts 4 zodiac figures: a Frog, Snake, mouse and owl. All are AAA gade Maki-e. All pencils are working.

The custom box is much older. It depicts a High relief Hanya Mask. The box is signed. It was customized to accomodate this set.

Raiden with drums and lightening among the clouds. Black lacquer sprinkled with gold powder with gold red silver and black HIRAMAKIE, TAKAMAKIE and TOGIDASHIE. He is holding a stick to beat a circle of drums creating thunder. The focus of this piece is on the cap with AAA design throughout. Even the lever and feed are covered with sprinkled gold. This is a MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE created as a custom order for Alfred Dunhill.

The Chrysanthemum is a symbol of Japanese Nobility. The focus of this piece is the Shrike. It presents a wonderful depth effect in red and green HIRAKAMKIE and TAKAMAKIE.

There are many techniques used in this design, three dimensional TAKAMAKI-E, Much sprinkled gold and multicolored AOGI shells abound. The work on the long tail feathers and wings are breathtaking.
